PFLAG seeking Executive Director

PFLAG is seeking a seasoned Executive Director with exceptional fund development skills. Reporting to a 21-member Board of Directors, and overseeing a 12-person staff and $3 million annual operating budget, the ED will be responsible for setting PFLAG’s program priorities and operationalizing its strategic plan. The ED will be the lead fundraiser and primary spokesperson for the organization. The successful candidate will enhance programs to support PFLAG’s members and reach allies beyond its chapter network. The new ED will understand the complexities of leading a decentralized organization and will have experience managing a distributed workforce inclusive of union staff.

Critical requirements include at least seven years of executive leadership experience, preferably with a national nonprofit organization. This will include a track record of success cultivating, stewarding and soliciting corporate, foundation and individual gifts. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader with exceptional interpersonal skills. PFLAG’s new ED will have prior experience with nonprofit finance including, managing budgets, cash flow, P&Ls, and audits; and will have knowledge of the history and public policy issues impacting LGBTQ individuals.

Arlington County is seeking staff for Creative Arts Camps for children and teens. Hours will vary between 35-40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary from 6-8 hours per day with shifts ranging between 8 am and 6 pm depending on the position and camp assigned. Work includes attending 30-40 hours of training and preparation. Teaching experience in the visual arts and experience working with children is required. Staff will be asked to plan and lead a variety of art experiences for ages ranging 5-16, depending on the camp.

The successful candidate will have good character and integrity, positive communication skills, reliable transportation, the ability to complete tasks as assigned, take the initiative when needed, and the ability to work successfully in a team environment. Responsible for assisting all leaders in the summer camp or program activities and operations. These individuals are either non-high school graduates (SA I) or high school graduates enrolled in post-high school level education programs who have not accumulated at least 3 months of relevant experience (SA II). Applicants must be at least 16 years old to be hired for licensed preschool camp. All other camps require the applicant be at least 15 years old. Applications for Student Assistant positions will only be considered from individuals who have previously volunteered in one or more of our summer camps.
RECREATION ASSISTANT I – $13.13/Hour
Responsible for assisting with  leading recreation activities and behavior management of participants for a summer camp. Assist in camp or program operations. Minimum requirements: Completion of requirements for graduation from high school or GED equivalent plus three months experience in administering recreational programs. CPR and First Aid Certification is desirable for applicants hired at this level.
RECREATION ASSISTANT II – $13.97/Hour
Responsible for assisting in the planning, leading, and conducting of recreation activities for a camp, behavior management of participants, and assisting in the evaluations of the activities and the participants. Minimum requirements: Completion of requirements for graduation from high school or GED equivalent, plus six months experience in administering recreational programs or facility monitoring. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required for all applicants hired at this level.
RECREATION ASSISTANT III – $15.59/Hour
Responsible for planning, leading, and conducting recreation activities for a summer camp. Responsible for completing participant and program evaluations. Performs related supervisory and administrative duties. Minimum requirements: Completion of requirements for graduation from high school or GED equivalent, plus one year experience (equivalent of 4 summers) in administering recreation programs. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required for all applicants hired at this level.
RECREATION ASSISTANT IV – $18.78/Hour
Responsible for directing a summer camp with responsibility for all rooms in that program. Performs supervisory and administrative duties. Minimum requirements: Completion of the requirements for graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in leisure or recreational studies, special education or a related field, plus one year experience (equivalent of 4 summers) in administrating recreation programs. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required for all applicants hired at this level. If you are hired as a Preschool Camp Director, you must be 21 years old at time of employment.
