 Are you a dedicated and driven news producer? The Producer, Politics serves as an integral member of the PBS NewsHour politics unit, overseeing the production of video segments for use on-air and a variety of online content.

 As the Producer, Politics, you will conceive, develop and execute field segments as well as studio discussion segments. You will also manage, plan and produce field, and political event coverage for packages as well as special projects. Further, you will identify, pre-interview, and book guests, gather and write background briefing materials for anchors and others, budget plan for field segments, and conceive and execute a variety of online coverage projects, which might include social media, podcasts, slideshows, extended interviews, and interactive forums and more.

 You have experience covering politics and government at a national level and shooting and editing (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut or Avid) experience are a plus. You are able to work effectively in a fast-paced newsroom setting and to adjust smoothly to changing assignments under deadline pressure.  Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks.

 Qualified individuals will have a college degree in journalism, political science, or related field, minimum of four (4) years of producing original news content, preferably for a national news outlet. Or, equivalent combination of education and experience.

 The PBS NewsHour is seeking a Senior Producer, Politics. In this position, you will lead our daily political reports for our nightly show and website. We’re looking for someone who can pitch stories daily, but also think long term and forward plan. You will play a key role in ensuring our legacy of providing viewers solid, reliable and balanced reporting continues.

As our Senior Producer, Politics, you will:

  • Participate and contribute during editorial planning meetings
  • Supervisor production of stories in our studio and in the field
  • Cover major Supreme Court decisions and other significant developments in law and justice
  • Manage a team of producers and Production Assistants, including mentoring our rising editorial staff

You have:

  • Experience producing network quality day of air stories and longer form features
  • The ability to work independently and adjust to changing assignments
  • Experience working under deadline pressure successfully
  • Outstanding time management, organizational and project planning skills
  • A minimum 10 years of experience working in broadcast journalism and covering national politics and campaigns
  • Bachelor’s degree/equivalent combination of training and experience

position available at WAVA/WRC Radio. This person will work with local businesses to develop multimedia marketing campaigns and oversee the execution of multi-faceted campaigns using online, social media, broadcast and other cutting edge media. Candidates are expected to have high level of multi-media knowledge and experience, the ability to work with a variety of clients, excel in a fast paced environment, demonstrate the ability to effectively consult with clients and the skills to sell multimedia products, producing new revenue opportunities for the Salem Media Group of Washington, DC. Strong computer skills are required. Excellent oral and written communications are critical. Ability to get through to and communicate comfortably with top business executives is needed. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Candidates must have a valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record. No relocation is offered.

Salem Media Group– Board Operator

 

BOARD OPERATOR
The Salem Media Group is the leading U. S. radio broadcaster targeting audiences interested in
conservative NewsTalk and Christian and family-themed programming. We currently have part-time and
full-time positions available for Board Operators at WAVA/Family Talk/WRC Radio.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Must operate standard broadcast console, including “faders” or “pots.”
• Protect the company’s F-C-C license, successfully execute E-A-S tests, log transmitter readings,
raise and lower power and follow regulations and policies under the direction of the Chief
Operator.
• Able to read and follow program log, play programs, spots and station identification’s for multiple
stations.
• Ability to perform commercial and show production.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education, Specific Skills and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience in running an audio console at a commercial or non-commercial
radio station necessary.
• Experience in a similar format/formats preferred.
• Experience with digital audio and digital editing systems.
• Computer proficiency and ability to use Windows and Linux-based systems and programs.
• Experience working with broadcast automation systems.
• Able to work regular weekend and/or overnight shifts.
• Must have legal right to work in the United States.

General Skills:
• Ability to interact and work well with other staff.
• Must be dependable and able to work and problem-solve independently.
• Must be able to pay attention to details and be organized.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
