Dominion is Hiring GROUNDMEN/ LINESMEN

The successful candidate will be exposed to the many facets of construction, operation and maintenance of the Electrical Distribution System.  If you enjoy the variety of challenging work outside of an office and want to develop communication, technical and mechanical abilities, the Groundman position may be an excellent starting point for a career with Dominion.   More specifically, the successful candidate will develop skills to prepare themselves for potential advancement in Line-work, Substation, Design or Dispatch areas.  As a Groundman, the majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered “heavy labor”. Specific Groundman functions include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Providing tools, materials and supplies to journeyman linemen
  • Ensuring safety rules and regulations are observed on the worksite
  • Driving trucks and ensuring they are properly stocked and maintained
  • Preparing the equipment and worksite for effective completion of assignments
  • Operating various types of equipment used in the construction process (diggers, aerial devices, etc.)

The selected candidate must be 18 years of age at the time of application, must obtain a Class A CDL learner’s permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL prior to 6 months of employment. Due to weight limits on equipment, weight restriction of 290 pounds applies.

We have multiple vacancies in Alexandria, Springfield, Fairfax, Herndon, Warrenton, Fredericksburg, Leesburg and Woodbridge District offices.

The starting pay rate will be $23.38 an hour with an additional 10% per hour Wage Supplement for Alexandria, Springfield, Fairfax & Herndon for a total of $25.71 per hour and a 5% per hour Wage Supplement for Leesburg & Woodbridge for a total of $ $24.54 per hour.

Desktop Support Analyst

Resources for the Future (RFF) is an independent, nonpartisan organization that conducts rigorous economic research and analysis to help leaders make better decisions and craft smarter policies about natural resources and the environment.

RFF was the first think tank devoted exclusively to natural resource and environmental issues and helped create the field of environmental and natural resource economics. Since 1952, it has provided decision makers with the tools to improve the way policy choices are made, strengthening both the environment and the economy.

We are currently seeking a Desktop Support Analyst to provide end user hardware and software support for Resources for the Future (RFF) staff.  The individual will assist users with mobile device configuration and troubleshooting related to accessing RFF system resources; perform basic printer troubleshooting and maintenance; provide general and audio-visual support for events; communicate with vendors for product pricing, purchasing and support; provide basic network and connectivity troubleshooting; imaging, configuring and deploying Windows machines; acquire and test information systems to verify functionality and compatibility with existing organizational hardware and software; manage technology assets and inventory; perform basic troubleshooting of VOIP phones and phone connectivity; assist with IT projects under supervision from senior team members; provide occasional off hours support for users and events; create and manage tickets in the ticketing system; troubleshoot and support remote access to RFF systems; educating and training user on new technology solutions; and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Candidates should possess a B.S. or equivalent; 1-3 years relevant experience.  In addition, candidates should have the following experience:

  • Basic hardware and software troubleshooting is required
  • A + or other PC certification preferred
  • Experience with remote management tool (Kaseya, N-able) preferred
  • Experience with statistical applications (Stata, Matlab, ArcGIS) a plus
