Residential Maintenance Tech Opportunity

  • RESIDENTIAL MAINTENANCE TECH – Paradigm

    Here is a great opportunity for an entry level Maintenance Technician to gain experience and possible future advancement at our luxury apartment community in the Mt Vernon Triangle neighborhood of Washington DC.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Completing service requests to include electrical, plumbing, appliance repairs, carpentry, painting and some HVAC repair.
    • Apartment turnover preparation and assisting with other maintenance operations when needed.
    • On-call maintenance service rotation; Weekend and weather related work and emergency support as needed.

  • Requirements include:

    • Prior related industry experience; HVAC certification and experience a plus.
    • Able to work indoors/outdoors in all weather and must be able to lift 100 lbs. with frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
    • Good service and communication skills.
    • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and auto insurance; Access to property within 30 minutes for on-call requests.

  • Compensation and Available Benefits include:

    • Pay rate range of $14.00-$15.00 per hour, based on experience.
    • Benefits upon eligibility include medical, dental and vision plans, tiered paid leave, 401(k), on-site housing discount and free on-site parking during work hours.

Join a growing practice and build your career on a solid foundation!  Langan has an immediate opening for a Geotechnical Engineer with 0 to 3 years of experience at our Arlington, VA office.  As the successful candidate, you will be working on exciting projects in both Virginia and Washington, DC with possible exposure to international projects.  Projects vary in complexity and size, including large high-profile sites.  You will assist with the preparation of technical reports, specifications, plans, designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. Candidate must be able to perform field inspections of geotechnical and foundation projects.  Possession of a strong technical education, professional demeanor, and desire to learn is essential to this position.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and Masters degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical specialty strongly preferred;
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0;
  • Entry level to 3 years of experience; we prefer candidates to have completed at least 1 related internship;
  • FE/EIT certification preferred;
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal;
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
  • Field experience with construction monitoring is preferred, but not required;
  • Must be willing to spend about 75 percent of the time working in the field;
  • Possess reliable transportation to access job sites and a valid driver’s license in good standing; and,
  • Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.

Leads a mix team of software engineers in the design, development, and implementation of multiple applications. Performs and leads the detail technical design, coding, code review and testing on new applications and enhancements of existing applications. Assists manager in all development activities, Supports other administrative and team building tasks when it needs.

Supports the architecture design. Assists in planning of resource/time allocations for current and projected development needs. Provides assistance in diagnosing production problems. Plays a key role on the new technology evaluation and technical prototypes.

Estimates the technical costs of projects for clients and project managers, confers with clients to identify requirements (e.g., data, information needs, processing, specific output, functional and development of test data), and determines their desired outcomes in order to formulate the design of the system and/or offer alternative solutions in a timely manner.

Provides project management regarding all technical aspects of implemented projects which includes: keeping in line with established budgets and timeframes, training end users on the operational procedures of the system, and providing technical guidance to less experienced staff during implementation. Analyzes, designs, and documents information to create the applicable statement of work and the associated deliverables.

Proactively analyzes and reviews emerging technologies, changes in the Insurance/Healthcare industry and the business functions of various clients, in order to determine if the advanced applications fit the needs of changing strategies, goals and objectives (develops and maintains technical knowledge through training, classes)

Mentors new or junior staff members on business knowledge, system peculiarities, and complex technical issues.
This position is also subject to being “on call” for emergency situations requiring immediate resolution.  Travel between all CareFirst locations may be required.

With knowledge of the organization’s infrastructure, hardware, systems software and protocols, act as a consultative resource for strategy, system design, development and/or modifications of software/procedures to solve business solutions across multiple heterogeneous platforms.
Drives the solution design and solution review to ensure the technical architecture design meets the technical objectives, business requirements, and standards.
Ensures applications are designed for optimum performance and provide suggestions for ways to restructure designs to achieve optimal performance.
Drives the design, develop, test and implementation of maintainable program logic for existing and new application in accordance with the technical specifications.
Reports to executive management on all project work and lessons learned as projects are closed.

Job Requirements:

  • Student actively pursuing a four year or advanced degree in Civil Engineering;

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment; and,
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
