FACILITIES MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I
Arlington Co. Government is recruiting for a part-time position is in the Facilities Operations Bureau (FOB) of the Department of Human Services. FOB manages 16 buildings throughout the County. The FOB team backs each other up on a daily basis and daily work is often re-prioritized due to customer need. The incumbent of this position needs to be flexible to work effectively for the organization. This employee performs a full range of basic to technical maintenance tasks and responds to staff requests in all the buildings to ensure the prompt and efficient maintenance of facilities. Additionally the position helps to maintain the pool of vehicles for staff use by performing daily inspections, dropping cars off for oil changes and repairs, and ensuring keys are tracked and available for those with reservations. The position also maintains the conference center daily by ensuring schedules are in notice boards, chairs and tables are in place, and arranging for cleanup as needed each morning.
Specific maintenance duties include:
• Drywall repair
• Patching and Painting
• Carpet tile replacement
• Light Carpentry
• Picture hanging
• Furniture installation and repairs
Minimum: Six months of general facilities maintenance and repair work.
Desirable: Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
a) Patching and painting experience;
b) Significant maintenance experience;
c) Experience using Microsoft Office Suite software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or other automated systems;
d) Furniture installation or repair experience;
e) Experience using basic construction and repair tools;
f) Customer service experience;
Applicant must possess, and maintain throughout the course of employment, a valid motor vehicle operator’s license from the applicant’s place of residence. The applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or the applicant must provide, a copy of the applicant’s official state/district driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a favorable review of the applicant’s driving record.
The work environment includes exposure to drafts, noise, dust, grease and dirt with extended periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, and lifting light to very heavy objects and equipment, weighing up to 50 pounds.

Hours of Work are 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Monday through Friday.
